Found this little gem the other day. Windows 8 has a built in battery life testing and reporting tool in it.

Just run this in a command prompt to generate the html report. ( windows key + r > cmd )

powercfg /batteryreport

this will output a lifetime history of battery life and usage over the life of the laptop. Assuming you have not re-installed windows. Shows the average power up time on battery mode and everything. Good to see how your battery is performing and how much capacity it still has on it.
