how to view a web page in its printer format

if you have to check a website in its print or @media print format this is how you can emulate it in browser if you are using chrome or edge.

  1. Open the Dev Tools (usually F12)
  2. Click the menu 3 dots.
  3. Go into more tools

  4. Click on Rendering
  5. This will then pop open a rendering tab, scroll down in this tab until you find the Emulation, its called Emulate CSS Media Type
  6. Now you can pick the media type
  7. Once you have picked print, reload the page and you will see what it will appear like when printing.
  8. This only gives you a element idea, so its not 100% exactly the same as printing, but it still shows what elements are visible and that kind of thing. Margins and paddings still are a bit out. So you need to change things and then do the print preview to see what it really looks like
  9. I usually set the browser window to about the same width as the printed page so it gives you more of an idea what it looks like.
  10. You can access the print preview with CTRL+P when the page is selected.
