Description
A city on the north-west fringes of the Blue Mountains about 5 km WNW of Clarence Trig Station and about 6km E of Walker Trig Station. Boundaries within the Lithgow Council area shown on map GNB3689.
Origin
Named in 1827 by Hamilton Hume whilst he was seeking an alternative route for Coxs Road down the western escarpment of the Blue Mountains He named Lithgows Valley in honour of Governor Brisbanes private secretary William Lithgow who later became the Auditor General of NSW.
