Agony Spur (SPUR), NSW Details
Description
A minor spur off Ettrema Plateau to Ettrema Creek about 4 km SW of Ettrema Trigonometrical Station. It begins below Possibility Point and travels in a westerly direction for approx 1 km to just north of the junction of Cinch Creek and Ettrema Creek.
Origin
Said to be named after the luxurious growth of gympie gympie trees (stinging trees) whose vicious sting causes real agony. [ J W Hilder Royal Australian Historical Society adviser to the Board] [Outdoors & Fishing May 1952 pages 40 - 42].
