simplepie error : XML or PCRE extensions not loaded!

using simplepie it does not load the target feed, and does not display any errors. Just nothing.

if your feed is init'd with $feed check for feed errors with:

      $feed = new SimplePie();

$out .= "feed errors: " . $feed->error . "<br />";

or

echo $feed->error

then to fix the error: XML or PCRE extensions not loaded!

you will need to install xml for php on your server

check version of php and install xml for that version

fastcgi_pass unix:/run/php/php7.4-fpm.sock;

for my server it was

sudo apt install php7.4-xml

Ah well there goes that hour... but now its fixed for next time hopefully this may save you the same weird error when using simplepie.

@charset

The @charset CSS at-rule specifies the character encoding used in the style sheet. It must be the first element in the style sheet and not be preceded by any character; as it is not a nested statement, it cannot be used inside conditional group at-rules. If several @charset at-rules are defined, only the first one is used, and it cannot be used inside a style attribute on an HTML element or inside the <style> element where the character set of the HTML page is relevant.
