A village about 6.5 km NNE of Coraki. Boundaries within the Lismore Council area shown on map GNB3628.

Meaning

For: a glutton; Also: a species of big lizard; Also: junction of two creeks (descriptive meaning). (Richmond Tweed Regional Library & Richmond River Historical Society. 1983). Also:from woom-bee said to mean a collection of huts. (M.Sharpe)

Origin

Aboriginal. derived from Dugarimbah Doogarimbah or Dugirinba the Bundjalung name for Lismore but for Girards Hill in particular. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library & Richmond River Historical Society. 1983). Also: possibly from djuga for drink. (M.Sharpe).
