Description
A reserve on the coast extending from 1.5 km NNW of Bundagen Headland in a northerly direction to the northern bank of Bonville Creek. It occupies portions 339 357307 309 78 and the Crown Reserve on the beach in the Parish of North Bellingen portions 76 and 173 Parish of Bonville and the adjoining Bonville and Pine Creeks.

Origin
The name Bongil Bongil is the name of a sub-group of the Gumbaingerie tribe which occupied the general area bounded by the Clarence River in the north the Nambucca River in the south Dorrigo in the west and the Pacific Ocean.( R Dacker Aboriginal Land Council Coffs Harbour).
