Joseph Marie Garavel (dob 1821 - dod 9.10.1885). Father Garavel was the first Catholic Parish Priest of Newtown from 1864 - 1869. The reserve is in close proximity to St Josephs Catholic Church. Source: Good Samaritan Archives Jubilee Souvenir of Newtown 1912.
