Redfern Creek (CREEK), NSW Details
Description
A watercourse about 4 km long rising at Collins Promenade and flows in a northerly direction through private property parkland and drainage easements to its confluence with Bunbury Curran Creek at at Milton. The creek has been substantially modified to accommodate urban runoff and part of the creek has been piped. This section flows under the Ingleburn commercial district.
Origin
DrWilliam Redfern trained as a surgeon in England and was commissioned to the the Royal Navy.in 1797 he was sentenced to death for giving advise to mutineers at the Nore Mutiny reprieved and sent to NSW he was pardoned in 1803 and became a noted surgeon.Granted 800 acres at Airds he established `Campbellfields.[Campbelltown City Council].
