History

REGENT MOUNTAIN - so named by Gov. Macquarie after the King P. 80. (Infr. from RAHS Journal Vo. 28 part 2)

Description

A mountain rising about 429 metres from the sea. It is about 1km N of Woonona Mountain and about 1km SW by S of Bulli Pass.

Origin

This name is said to be given by Macquarie in 1822 to the part of the Illawarra Range which he descended on his way from Appin to the coast. An extraction from Governor Macquaries diary on January 15th 1822 - Finding that this mountain has never yet received any particular name I have christened it the Regent Mountain as it was
