Description
A reserve on the corner of Pitt and Ocean streets at Dudley. It occupies the northern part of Lot 169 of DP 827672. The reserve is bounded on the East by Pitt Street on the North by Ocean Street and the southern boundary of Lot 1 of DP 931771 on the west by the eastern boundary of the lot just mentioned and the back boundaries of the lots fronting on Gardner Street. This area is an open grassed passive recreation area with the soccer field known as Lydon Field on the South.
Origin
The reserve is named after Frank Watkins (1909-1993). He had a long Army career - part of which was spent in Changi POW Camp and on the Burma Railway. On retiring he put his energy into associations such as the Ex-POW the TPI and the RSL. He won several awards for his work including Lake Macquaries Citizen of the Year 1982.
