History
John Howe was chief constable at Windsor and was responsible for discovering a route from Richmond to the Hunter River in October and November 1818. He was given a permit to graze stock there in Sep 1820.
Description
A village about 2 km N by W of White Falls and about 2 km SE by E of Pigeon Point. Boundaries within the Singleton Council area shown on map GNB3803.
Origin
John Howe named the 700 acres granted to him by Gov Macquarie in 1821 Redbourneberry. It was located on the eastern side of the current town of Singleton. The location and extent of the locality differs from the original grant. The name commemorates Howe`s birthplace Redbourn in Hertfordshire England.
