Bootstrap 4 Center menu items in a navbar

Here we have an example bootstrap navbar you can find the original navbar here.

I just want to center the menu item links so they dont appear over to the left on larger screens.

Add the following css and then add the class center just next to the navbar class.

Then add the class navbar-inner to the wrapping div to the menu items. Remove the class mr-auto if it exists as this sets the margin right to auto and makes it important which overrides everything else and does not allow centering.

And we should have centered items in the test navbar.

HTML

<!-- Here is our test nav -->
<nav class="navbar center navbar-expand-lg navbar-light bg-light">
  <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">X</a>
  <button class="navbar-toggler" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarSupportedContent" aria-controls="navbarSupportedContent" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="Toggle navigation">
    <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
  </button>

  <div class="collapse navbar-collapse navbar-inner" id="navbarSupportedContent">
    <ul class="navbar-nav">
      <li class="nav-item active">
        <a class="nav-link" href="#">X<span class="sr-only">(current)</span></a>
      </li>
      <li class="nav-item">
        <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
      </li>
      <li class="nav-item dropdown">
        <a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" href="#" id="navbarDropdown" role="button" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
          Drop
        </a>
        <div class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="navbarDropdown">
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Action</a>
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Another action</a>
          <div class="dropdown-divider"></div>
          <a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Something else here</a>
        </div>
      </li>
      <li class="nav-item">
        <a class="nav-link disabled" href="#">Disabled</a>
      </li>
    </ul>
    <form class="form-inline my-2 my-lg-0 hide">
      <input class="form-control mr-sm-2" type="search" placeholder="Search" aria-label="Search">
      <button class="btn btn-outline-success my-2 my-sm-0" type="submit">Search</button>
    </form>
  </div>
</nav>

CSS

.navbar.center .navbar-inner {
    text-align: center;
	align-items: center;
	justify-content: center;
}

.navbar.center .navbar-inner .nav {
    display:inline-block;
    float: none;
}
