History
John Wilson an ex-convict was almost certainly the first white man to have visited the Bargo area. (NPWS Draft Plan of Management).

A group of five lakes located about 1 km west of Couridjah and 3 km SW of Thirlmere.
Origin
The first recorded discovery of the Thirlmere lakes was an entry in the diary of the second Wilson expedition on 14 March 1798.
