Formerly Dharawal Aboriginal land. (Appleton; 1992). Name recorded by Thomas Mitchell in 1834. (Appleton; 1992).
Description
A City about 4.5 km SE by E of Keira Trig. Station and about 4.5 km SSW of Towradgi Point.
Meaning
Also: Woolyungah - meaning five islands. (Anthropological Society of Australasia 1899). Also: probably Dharawal Aboriginal in origin and is said to mean sound of the sea but no linguistic evidence for this. (Appleton; 1992).
