A dam constructed by the Water Conservation & Irrigation Commission on the Namoi River. OTHER COMMENTS: Ref. RAHS journals.
Description
A major dam on the Namoi River. It is 56 km W of Tamworth and 39 km NE of Gunnedah.
Meaning
Probably means keep it a derogatory remark about the apparent worthlessness of the pastoral run. It does not appear to be an Aboriginal word.
Origin
William Sims Bells pastoral run (1839) was Keepit Williams Sims Bells pastoral run (1848) was Keepit comprising 16000 acres with Namoi River as waterfrontage. No.21 Liverpool Plains District. He also held run No.22 of 15000 acres also called Keepit with the Namoi River as waterfrontage.
