History
Council at its meeting on 2 June 1997 adopted the resolution of its Historical Resources Committee when it was resolved the the reserve be named `Oyster Cove Reserve`.
Description
A reserve in King Street Waverton adjacent to Wollstonecraft Bay. It occupies Lot 5 of DP 863330.
Origin
`Oyster Cove` was an early name for part of the waterfront to the North Shore Gas Companys site in Wollstonecraft Bay. (`Naming North Sydney` 1996 Edition). For other references to Oyster Cove including a photograph labelled `Site of the North Shore Gas Works Oyster Cove 1913 AGL Archives` see Broomham R 1989 `Report...Oyster Cove Works`.
