History
Post office opened as Haslems Creek on 16.10.1868 changed to Rookwood 15.7.1876 to Lidcombe 15.12.1913. Railway station used the same names changing on 1.11.1858 1876 and 1.1.1914.

A suburb about 5 km WNW of Strathfield and about 4 km SE of Granville. Boundaries shown on map marked GNB3576.
Origin
In the 1890s the area was known as Rookwood but residents did not like the association with the cemetery and suggested the combination of the names of two former mayors Lidbury and Larcombe to make Lidcombe.
