Description

A suburb about 3 km E by N of Strathfield and about 7 km W of Sydney. Boundaries within Canada Bay City Council area shown on map GNB3555.

Origin

At the NE point of the bay there were five water worn indentations that were likened to docks hence the name Five Dock. There are two of the five remaining. Maritime Services Board Port of Sydney Vol9 No 3 Sept 1965.
