It is on the 1905 map of Parish Borambil in the form Balara and on other county or parish maps appears in the forms: Bolah Gap Bolah Gap Public School Balara Swamp and Plain Balara Gap (Bolaro homestead on the STM Quipolly in the Gap or valley) *
