Leo Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
Thomas Berecry (1861-1954) arrived in the area in 1920. He called the creek Leos Creek. Name proposed by B Berecry through the Mangrove Mountain Districts Community Group.
Description
A gully 1.4 km in length which starts at a point 5.4 km WNW of Moat Trigonometrical Station and 2.1 km SSW of the Ironbark Road bridge over Ironbark Creek. The gully runs in a south-easterly direction into Ironbark Creek.
Origin
Named after Leo Berecry one of the sons of Thomas Berecry. The creek flows through his property. The Berecry family is one of the pioneering families of the district. A road in the area is named after them. Leo Berecry died in the 1970s.
