History
Name proposed by Neville Davis of Parramatta Councils Parks Division.
Description
A reserve located on the western side of Jordan Street Rosehill. It adjoins ABecketts Creek and is shown as lots 20-22 Sec G of DP 1805.
Origin
John Irving (1760-1795) a convict who had surgical training acted as surgeons mate on the voyage to Australia and later worked on Norfolk Island and at Sydney Hospital. In February 1789 he became the first convict emancipated in Australia. He received a posting to Rosehill and was granted land. (Kass T et al.Parramatta - A Past Revealed)
