History
Born in Campbelltown NSW in 1822 Joseph McGuire married Elizabeth Maria Johnson he was a cedar-getter with Steve King and his bullock team carried the whaleboat needed to explore the Richmond River.
Description
A partly perennial stream rising about 2.5 km SW of Alstonville. It flows generally NE then SE for about 17 km into Emigrant Creek and 4 km WNW of Ballina.
Origin
Joseph McGuire (also spelt Maguire) came to the Richmond River with the first cedar cutters in 1842 and built the first hut at Tintenbar on Emigrant Creek. (Rich.Twd.Reg.Lib. & Rich.R.Hist.Soc.1983).
