History

`Nashs Hill` was first shown on a map which appears to date from the goldrush days. (Tindall R T 1983 `Parkes: One Hundred Years of Local Government`). (For source documents see `ORIGIN` above)

Description

A hill located about 5 km NNE of Parkes and 1.9 km WSW of the Parkes- Alectown road bridge over Goobang Creek. The hill is surmounted by the trigonometrical station named `Parkes`.

Origin

In 1871 the Nash family became one of the earliest white families to settle in the district. It has a long and proud history. The hill stands on land which is owned by the family. The name `Nash/Nashs Hill` appears in government publications and documents listed on file and in agenda of 20 August 1998. (Parkes Council letter 26 June 1998)
