On July 17 1998 the Premier of NSW announced Girralang Nature Reserve as one of eight new parks to be administered by National Parks and Wildlife Services..
Description
A reserve occupying an area of 636 hectares located approximately 4 km NE of the locality of Ophir being Lot 11 of D P 41214 currently part of Ophir Reserve and Crown Reserve 81412.

Origin
Aboriginal This new name was suggested to avoid confusion as previously there existed two areas named Ophir Reserve.
