Origin
Said to have been named after the Brooklyn Bridge Company who built the first railway bridge here. BROOKLYN- Named after the Union Bridge company of New York U.S.A. (Brooklyn) in 1888. Now known as The Hawkesbury River. (Information from Shire of Hornsby-Diamond Jubilee 1966)
