Fred Hollows Reserve (RESERVE), NSW Details
Description
A reserve along along a gully extending from Bligh Place to Alison Road Randwick. The National Trust described the site as ...a remarkable landscaped contrast to the surrounding area. It is an isolated cool sheltered vegetated gully in the midst of a densely populated highly urbanised environment. The Coachwood and Lilly Pilly trees and the sandstone rock formations provide the dominant landscape characteristics of [the gully].
Origin
Dr Frederick Gossom Hollows OAM (9 Apr 1929 - 16 Feb 1993) a renowned humanitarian was an opthalmic surgeon who received local national and world wide recognition for his work. The reserve is located close to his family residence.
