Ainsworth Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
Name proposed by R Pontifex through the Mangrove Mountain Districts Community Group. Supported by the Darkinjung Aboringinal Council Gosford Council Forests and NP&WS.
Description
A gully 1.5 km in length which starts at a point 3.5 km SW of Moat Trigonometrical Station and 4.9 km SSE of the Ironbark Road bridge over Ironbark Creek. The gully runs in a north-westerly direction into Ironbark Creek.
Origin
Barry Ainsworth was the first person to clear the land near this creek. He was a mechanic and a community minded person. He committed suicide in the 1980s.
