Underwood Reserve (RESERVE), NSW Details
History
Ashfield Council submitted a proposal to name this reserve Sunning Hill Reserve in June 1994. After objections to that proposed name the current name was proposed by Ashfield Historical Society.
Description
A childrens playground and passive recreation area of approximately 4005 sq m in Gower Street Summer Hill comprising lots 13 to 15 of DP 378.
Origin
Brothers James and Joseph Underwood at one time owned much of northern Ashfield. The reserve lies on part of James Undewoods land. The area was subdivided and lots offered for sale by auction as The Underwood Estate on 23 September 1878.
