Boiler Flat Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
Name proposed by Keith Paull in response to the Mangrove Mountain Bicentennial Naming Project.
Description
A gully about 1.9 km in length which rises in an area 2.4 km SW of Basalt Hill and 3.3 km SE of the middle of the Mangrove Creek Dam wall. It flows in a south-westerly direction to its point of confluence with Mangrove Creek.
Origin
A sawmill operated in this area in the 1920s. Larry Furnance had a bullock team at the time and hauled the boiler for the mill over from Murrays Run. It is still there half covered with sand and has been known by that name ever since. (Paull K M of Woy WoyLarry Furnances son-in-law naming proposal form dated 26 June 1997)
