Sanananda Road adjoins. Sanananda is an area located on the NE coast of New Guinea between Gona and Buna and SE of Killerton. The Sanananda area was occupied by forces of the Imperial Japanese Army. On 22 January 1943 Sanananda fell to a combined Australian (7th Div AIF) US force after much of the Japanese force had been withdrawn.
