Description
A river crossing located on the Macquarie River about 6.4 km S by SW of Hill End Post Office and 2.9 km SE of Junction Mountain. It joins the Root Hog Fire Trail to The Bridle Track and is part of Crown land in Portion 11.

The crossing is in an area referred to as `Root Hog or Die such is the name of the reefing district at this location`. (`Sydney Empire` newspaper March 1873). `Root Hog` is shown as an area name on the 1971 map of the Parish of Bruinbun. The name was assigned as a locality name in 1987 and a historical locality in 1995.
