Drip Rock Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
This name was proposed by Russell Pontifex and Lorna Allwood (nee Doulass) of Ourimbah in response to the Mangrove Mountain Bicentennial Naming Project. (Pontifex and Allwood proposal form 19 June 1997)
Description
A gully which runs from an area 3.7 km W by N of Mangrove Mountain Post Office and 4.2 km E by S of Mount McLeod. It flows for 0.4 km in a north-westerly direction into Dubbo Creek.
Origin
At one point in the path of this watercourse a permanent trickle of water used to fall from a big overhang of rock. It was a special place to get a cool drink on a hot day and it was just the right height for local residents to inscribe their names in charcoal on the underside of the rock. (Andrew and Douglass Council 30.06.1997)
