The name originated before 1860. The Yellow Woman was a shepherd on Wallabadah living at The Yellow Womans Hut. The stream was named after her (Quirindi Dist. Histroical Society) The county map shows Yellow Womans Hut on old Portion 15 Evan about the site of the present Karingal homestead on Por. 149 Parnell STMR Emblen 896-037.
