History
The bay has also been known as Sugar Works Bay and Kerosene Bay works of that nature having their location in the area at different times.

A bay within Pt Jackson and about 2 km S of St Leonards Railway Station.
Origin
Named after Lieut Henry Lidgebird Ballofficer in command of the brig Supply who afterwards attained the rank of rear admiral. (RAHS Journal Vol. 31 pt. 1 pp. 313).
