History
Originally known as South Wentworthville Park then Centenary Park. The Geographical Names Board approved this name in December 1995 with the proviso that the name of the feature never be changed again.
Description
A reserve bounded by Centenary Road and Hollywood Richmond and Fairmount streets Merrylands. Facilities in the park provide for the playing of cricket soccer netball and softball. A recreation hall and amenities building have also been constructed in the area. the reserve occupies lots 154-197 of DP 11653.
Origin
Noel Edgar (Ted) Burge (19 Sep 1919 - 30 May 1995) was President of the Centenary Park Committee for 35 years until his death. He voluntarily maintained the reserve and was highly respected by the community and sporting fraternity for his encouragement of sport.
