History
The name of the reserve was adopted by Council on 25 July 1994.
Description
A reserve located on the eastern side of Salisbury Road at Guildford. It occupies lots 38-39 of Section 7 of DP 4047.
Origin
Sir Maurice Charles Philip OConnell (......1768 - 1848) arrived in Port Jackson with Governor Macquarie in 1809. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the British army. In 1844 he was promoted to Commander of the armed forces in NSW. An inn named after OConnell was located near the site. (Parramatta Council facsimile dated 23 November 1998)
