History
Name suggested by Council officers.
Description
A reserve which links Church Street to Parramatta Road at Ashfield. Designed to allow for pedestrians and cyclists it occupies Lot 104 of DP 868406. It has an area of 1650 square metres and generally comprises a long narrow strip adjacent to the drainage channel.
Origin
John Pope (01.10.1827 - ......1912) was the first mayor of Ashfield in 1872. He was also mayor in 1873 and 1885. He built substantial homes in the Ashfield area. His interests included commerce and retail trading. He was head of the great Sydney firm Farmers & Co. (Coupe S and R Speed the Plough / Ashfield 1788-1988)
