Named after Diedre Ann Ashwood (dob 19.6.1935 - dod 19.12.2007) a school teacher who devoted much of her time to playing coaching and the administration of sport especially hockey and swimming. Ann was a councillor on Bathurst City Council from 1978-1995 and served as Mayor from 1989-1992. (Bathurst Regional Council Western Advocate)
