A village about 21 km N by W of Wallerawang. Boundaries within the Lithgow Council area shown on map GNB3689.

Origin

Aboriginal. Two meanings have been given: high quiet place and lyre bird. On the other hand Henry Lawson stated that Ben Bullen was a bullock driver whp prospered by selling potatoes at the time of the gold rush at Mudgee. (Place Names of NSW Reed 1969).
