History
Councils records indicates this name has been used since August 1959. (Parramatta Council letter 11 December 1997). Name shown in 1980 UBD street directory.
Description
A reserve on the corner of Railway Terrace and Oxford Street Guildford. See manuscript Ms 9939 Sy for the reserves boundary details.
Origin
Reserve is named after the suburb in which it is situated. 1n 1817 a retired army officer Lieutenant Samuel North was granted land where the suburb now stands. In 1837 he named it after the Earl of Guildford to whom he was connected. (Pollon F Book of Sydney Suburbs 1988 p. 117)
