Mount Jellore (MOUNTAIN), NSW Details
History
The first major trig. station chosen by Major Mitchell and occupied in May 1828. It is believed that convict-explorer John Wilson first ascended the mountain as early as 18 March 1798.
Description
A mountain rising about 500 metres from Nattai River. Situated about 6 km west of Mount Flora and 5 km SW of Flat Top Mountain. According to Alan E J Andrews it is the most prominent peak on the southwestern horizon that is seen by Sydneysiders.
