Red Johnnys Cave (CAVE), NSW Details
History
Old correspondence discovered at site by B Snedden 1964. Papers were later returned to family Sassafras Parish of Sixty Farms Pub 1995 page 103. Rolfe family records Jim Sturgiss.
Description
A cave 300 metres west of Camp Rock and about 1700 metres N by W of Island Mountain.
Origin
Located along Endrick Trail near The Vines. Itinerant resident at cave early 1920s and ran a few cattle. Suffered from cancer which he thought was indigestion and treated with castor oil. Fragments of blue bottles can be found at site. Died 1928. Had long flowing red beard. Family records. Nina May Mooney ACT 1993. More info source in history.
