Description
A village on the Richmond River about 5 km SE of Greenridge. Boundaries proposed in Richmond Valley shown on map GNB3746 Boundaries within the Lismore Council area shown on map GNB3628.
Meaning
Also: from Yugambeh and Minyangbal ja:jam for child and Gidhabal ja:dam for child (to puberty). (M.Sharpe). Also: young children. (J.S.Ryan;1963;p.42).
Origin
Aboriginal. Derived from Bundjalung djahdjam for child. Tatham was a baby increase (or fertility site) where women went to a lagoon that had a tree with an interesting bulge in the trunk. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library & Richmond Historical Society. 1983).
