History
The reserve lies on the boundary between the Gundungurra and the Darug nations. The name was selected during meetings with the Aboriginal Cultural Resource Centre. (Blue Mountains Conservation 14 Oct 1997)
Description
A reserve at Leura bounded on the north by the Great Western Highway on the south by the Main Western railway line on the east by Paul Sorensen Bridge and by Myall Avenue on the west. It is part of Water Reserve 5166 and includes lots 417-25 and Reserve 131.
Origin
Digger Cooper (.......... - ......1978) was from the Gundungurra Tribe and a champion of the Aboriginal cause. His family was forcibly removed from the Megalong Valley in 1904. He fought in World War 11 but on his return found he also had to fight against racism. He was married to a member of the Darug Tribe. (Gale C Darug Corporation)
