Elwell Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
Name proposed by M Hobday through the Mangrove Mountain Districts Community Group. Supported by Darkinjung Aboriginal Council Gosford Council Forests and NP&WS.
Description
A gully 0.8 km in length which begins at a point 4.5 km NNW of Moat Trigonometrical Station and 1.9 km SE of the Ironbark Road bridge over Ironbark Creek. The creek flows in a southerly direction into Stubbs Gully.
Origin
The Elwell family were the first people to clear and farm the land on the banks of this creek. It was an old family in the area but its members are now deceased.
