Named by Captain Cook in May 1770 after Commodore John Byron who commanded a voyage of exploration in 1764-66.
Description
Rock promontory being the most eastern point of Australia projecting into the Coral Sea at the town of Byron Bay about 54 km S by E of Point Danger.
