Leask Creek (GULLY), NSW Details
History
This name was proposed by Graeme Ausburn in response to the Mangrove Mountain Bicentennial Naming Project. (Ausburn G of Calga naming proposal form 16 August 1997)
Description
A gully which runs from an area 0.4 km E by S of Myoora trigonometrical station and 1.5 km S of the junction of Vittasalos Road and Somersby Falls Road. It is 1.0 km in length and runs in a southerly direction over the dam at Old Sydney Town to a point of confluence wit Piles Creek.
Origin
Gordon Leask (.......... - ..........) owned a farm on which Old Sydney Town is now located. Mr Leask taught many people in the area how to farm. In the 1950s-60s the school bus always dropped mail at a stop known as Leasks Creek Mailbox. (Ausburn G of Calga naming proposal form 16 August 1997)
