Shakeys Forest (RESERVE), NSW Details
Description
A reserve on the northern side of Ironbark Road at Mangrove Mountain. It occupies Lot 7010 of DP 93089.
Origin
Named after John Shakshaft [sp?] who was a well-known character in the early 1800s. This area was known as `Shakeys Forest` throughout the district. Mr Shakshaft was buried in Holy Trinity cemetery at Spencer possibly about 1876. (Woodbury family naming proposal form 22 June 1997)
