Description

A village about 10 km E by N of Lismore. McLeans Ridges Boundaries within the Ballina Council area shown on map GNB3731. Boundaries within the Lismore Council area shown on map GNB3628.

Origin

This area was first settled by Samuel Gibson and his family who came from Oxley Island in the Manning River district and by the McLean family. Two of Mr Gibsons daughters were married to the brothers John and Donald McLean and the name is said to have originated from them. (Rich.Twd.Reg.Lib. & Rich.R.Hist.Soc.1983).
